This illustration perfectly explains how women are shamed whatever they wear

Dress codes. Reactions to rape. Cat calls. Wherever women are concerned, what we wear comes up as an issue, over and over again. When a woman is raped, she’s asked what she was wearing, as if her outfit choices somehow control whether or not she will be a victim of sexual assault. When a woman dresses in a crop top, she’s ‘asking for attention’. When she covers up, she’s ‘oppressed’. A woman’s outfit choices are a battleground. It’s not fair. It’s impossible to please anyone. And it’s deeply frustrating to be unable to go ahead and wear whatever we want without judgment. This illustration perfectly sums up the madness: Yep, that just about sums up the nonsense we’re dealing with. The illustration is the work of artist LaSauvageJaune. Since she tweeted it earlier this week, it’s been retweeted more than 7,000 times. It’s spot on. So, now that we all get it, can we work on changing this bullshit? Because we’d really like to be able to get on with things without having to deal with other people’s ridiculous comments about what we’re wearing.
