Boy, 12, stands up to 11,000 anti-gay protesters on huge march

As far as pictures go, it has been likened to the infamous tank man on Tiananmen Square. Taken on the weekend it shows a 12-year-old boy stand up to 11,000 protesters as they march through Celaya in Mexico in a protest against same-sex marriage. The boy, who it turned out later has a gay uncle, was pictured with his arms wide open begging the thousands before him to stop. The moment was captured by photo journalist Manuel Rodriguez. He told Regeneración that at first he thought the child was only playing but was later told he has an ‘uncle who is gay’ and he ‘hates that people hate.’ The protest, organised by the National Front for the Family, was held in opposition to proposals by President Enrique Pena Nieto to introduce same-sex marriage. | Metro News via IFTTT
