Outrage as Charlie Hebdo shows Italy earthquake victims as pasta

Charlie Hebdo has caused outrage by portraying the victims of the Italian earthquake as pasta dishes. The world mourned after a devastating 6.2-magnitude earthquake hit central Italy last week and killed nearly 250 people, including young children. However the satirical magazine’s response was an illustration headed: ‘Earthquake Italian Style’. The cartoon shows two victims standing next to a pile of rubble, among which the feet of the dead are visible. One victim, covered in blood, is labelled ‘penne with tomato sauce’. The woman standing next to him, whose face is burned, is ‘penne gratin’. The dead victims trapped beneath the rubble, shockingly, are labelled ‘lasagne’. | Metro News via IFTTT
