Teenager holds hand of scared elderly woman to help her down escalator
A simple act of kindness is all it takes to make someone smile. Carma Greathouse was with her granddaughter Leah Kerr and her two children shopping in Fort Wayne, Indiana when she had to use the escalator. But Leah, who was distracted by her two daughters, didn’t realised that her grandma was too terrified to get on it. Writing on Facebook, Leah wrote: ‘I felt horrible as I watched her try again and again to get her footing right. People walked around her, pushed by her or asked her to step to the side.’ That’s when 19-year-old Alujwyon Lowery came to the rescue. The young man stepped in and helped the elderly woman on to the escalator at Glenbrook Mall. But he didn’t stop there – he held her hand the entire way down and helped her off. The picture of the teen helping Carma has since gone viral with more than 7,800 likes on Facebook. | Metro News via IFTTT
