These illustrations perfectly sum up all the conflicting expectations placed on women

We are told that we need to be more assertive in the office but, when we are, we’re called bossy. We’re told we should wear makeup and love our bodies, but, you know, not too much. Sound familiar? If it feels as though you can never win, whatever you do, that’s because you can’t – not if you’re trying to please other people. Every day, women are expected to live up to unrealistic, and constantly conflicting, expectations, as these illustrations perfectly demonstrate. Artist and fashion illustrator Daisy Bernard created the illustrations in the wake of the burkini ban on beaches in France and inspired by a similar drawing by French artist LaSauvageJaune.
