Boxer Mike Towell dies in hospital after Glasgow fight with Dale Evans

Scottish boxer Mike Towell has died in hospital after a fight on Thursday night left him with severe bleeding to the brain. The 25-year-old was taken from the ring on a stretcher in the fifth round of his fight with Dale Evans on Thursday evening. The Dundee fighter hit the canvas twice during the bout and was knocked out in the fifth following a brutal left hook. Towell, a father of one, entered the British welterweight title eliminator as an unbeaten fighter, winning 11 of his previous bouts and drawing one. After the fight Evans described the Scot as a ‘true warrior’ and the tributes have been pouring in since Towell’s management confirmed his passing.
