Woman’s horrific burns after Costa tea spilled on her groin on second date

A woman has suffered horrific burns when a cup of tea from Costa spilled on her groin during a second date. Melissa Postello, 23, was in the passenger seat of her date’s car when they used a drive-through in Meadowhall, Sheffield. But when he turned a sharp corner she lost her grip and the entire contents landed on her lap. She said: ‘I remember saying “pull over” and feeling like my legs were on fire.’ She had been wearing shorts and tights at the time and within 10 minutes her skin blistered badly. She sat in a cold bath at home for 20 minutes before deciding to go to A&E when the pain did not subside. Melissa was sent home on the same day but may need skin grafts in the future. She has now hit out at Costa for having such hot water, but the company told her that their water is never hotter than 92°C. However, she claims she was told that the nature of her injuries would normally be associated with skin coming into contact with something that is at least 130°C. | Metro News via IFTTT
