CARNAGE ON THE TOP DECK Tottenham double-decker bus hits railway bridge injuring more than 20 passengers --- MORE than 20 people have been injured after a double-decker smashed into a railway bridge. Three people were trapped on the bus’ top level with emergency crews rushing to pull them from the wreckage on St Loy’s Road in Tottenham in the early hours of Saturday morning. Twenty-six people in total were injured in the crash, with five of the patients taken to hospital, the London Ambulance said. A London Fire Brigade (LFB) spokesman said: “Two fire engines, a fire rescue unit and 15 firefighters were called to a collision involving a bus and a railway bridge on St Loy’s Road in Tottenham early this morning. “Crews helped release three people who were trapped on the upper deck of a double-decker bus. Five passengers were taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service and 21 people were treated at the scene.” Emergency crews were called about 4.05am, with the incident being finalised at 5.44am. A Met Police spokesperson said: “A number of people were treated at the scene by LAS for minor injuries but did not require hospital treatment. “Two people were taken to an east London hospital. “Their injuries are described as not life threatening and not life changing.” Crews from Tottenham and Edmonton fire stations attended the incident along with London Ambulance Service, Metropolitan Police and Network Rail.
