Bodybuilder reveals how he almost died from ladybird bite

A bodybuilder has revealed how doctors only gave him a 30% chance of living after he was bitten by a ladybird. Reza Rezamand, 31, developed sepsis after being bitten by one of the insects causing his foot to swell up to twice its normal size and toes to turn black. The incident left the 6ft1inch weightlifter feeling ‘lucky’ to be alive and he is now trying to raise awareness of the potential deadly consequences of one of the bites. He told The Sun he had first gone to the doctor after being bitten when stood outside his local gym in Stoke-on-Trent. But the antibiotics he was prescribed didn’t work causing him to be rushed to hospital for urgent tests. ‘I was very lucky. I’ll never touch a ladybird in my life again,’ he said. ‘I’ve never been scared of anything in my life. I can bench press 180kg but I was almost killed by a titchy thing like a ladybird.’ The dad-of-one, who runs his own supplement store, said ignoring what happened could have cost him his life. He said: ‘I want to raise awareness about this and tell anyone who might have suffered a similar bite to go to the doctor straight away.’ | Metro News via IFTTT
